About CIPMA

Who we are

The Canadian Independent Petroleum Marketers Association is a national not-for-profit trade association representing the unique interests of its members.

CIPMA members are the backbone of Canada’s fuel distribution and marketing industry. They distribute heating oil, gasoline, diesel, propane, aviation fuel and renewable fuels across a vast geography, to diverse industries, and to millions of Canadian consumers.

What we do

CIPMA advocates for our members’ interests according to priorities established by our membership.

CIPMA’s role is one of industry leadership. We provide governments and the media with the information they need, using extensive research and knowledge of fuel markets and independent fuel marketers’ business models. We often collaborate with other trade associations to better achieve our advocacy goals.

But CIPMA’s role extends well beyond lobbying for our members. Much of our effort is spent adding value to our member companies by interpreting new and coming regulations, keeping them apprised of major market and regulatory trends, and providing them with valuable networking events.

Industry-leading networking events

Each year, we offer the fuel marketing industry two opportunities to find out what’s new, what’s coming, what CIPMA is doing about it, and how best to prepare for regulatory changes.

The main event is the Canadian Fuel Marketing Conference in the spring; the other is the Annual CIPMA Golf Challenge in the autumn. Both are all-industry events open to members and non-members alike and offer marketers, suppliers and other stakeholders the chance to network.*

* CIPMA requires strict adherence to Canada’s competition laws for all participants, at all events.
